Dictionary Page
Our project was to glue a dictionary page onto a piece of paper, find a word on the page, and design the page with elements relating to the word.
My word was Meuse, a river that passes through France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. So I drew a river and painted it using watercolour. The rocks and trees, as well as the shoreline are all coloured with art markers. This took about 4 hours to complete, and I hope it pleases the eye. |
Social Issues
This piece is calling out how society wants people to be happy but instead of helping the individual learn how to be joyful, they make them feel like they should hide their pain and put on a facade of happiness.
I did it in graphite pencil because I think pencil crayons are too colourful, and I was trying to make my artwork look bleak and hopeless. If I was gonna add colour, I would add bright saturated colours to the masks to further my point. I'm very happy I decided to do this piece in portrait form, because the number of masks looks ambiguous, and I like that feeling of not knowing how many masks was given to my character. |
